Navona Records’ The Voice of Brubeck Vol. 2 extends the label’s tribute to Dave Brubeck with a program that spans orchestral works and jazz-infused pieces. Produced by Arthur Gottschalk with the support of the Lago Vista Community Concerts Foundation, the album features the world premiere recording of Theme and Explorations for Orchestra alongside the expressive Lord, Lord from The Gates of Justice. Familiar standards such as In Your Own Sweet Way and Unsquare Dance are reimagined, while selections from The Real Ambassadors underscore Brubeck’s artistic breadth and social engagement. The release reinforces his lasting influence across multiple musical traditions.
Franz Anton Krager, who first gained international attention with a prize-winning conducting debut in Copenhagen in 1978, has since led performances in major venues across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas, including the Kennedy Center, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Sydney Opera House, and State Kremlin Palace. His work extends to prominent festivals in Croatia, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and the United States. He has conducted numerous leading orchestras worldwide and currently serves as Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Texas Music Festival and Co-Artistic Director of the Virtuosi of Houston. As Hourani Endowed Professor and Director of Orchestras at the University of Houston, he has elevated the Moores School Symphony Orchestra to international recognition, with recordings on several noted labels.
