This recording explores the innovative trio sonatas of Elia Vannini (1644–early 18th century), a significant yet little-known figure of the Italian Baroque. Although Vannini served for over twenty years as maestro di cappella in Ravenna, his Opus 1 (1691) marked a decisive break from convention. Rather than sacred vocal works, he published a collection of Sinfonie a Tre, asserting a bold instrumental vision that reflects both compositional mastery and pedagogical intent. Performed by Concerto Theresia, these elegantly crafted works illuminate the expressive richness and experimental spirit of late 17th-century Italy, offering valuable insight into the evolving Baroque instrumental tradition.
