Flausino Vale & The Brazilian Violin presents a landmark contribution to the rediscovery of Brazil’s solo violin repertoire. The album brings together 30 works by Flausino Rodrigues Vale (1894–1954), revealing a distinctive musical language that fuses European Romanticism, musical nationalism, and Brazilian folklore. Rich in lyricism, virtuosity, and poetic expression, the pieces evoke the landscapes, rhythms, and colors of Brazil. The program also includes two rare solo violin arrangements by Vale himself, of works by Saint-Saëns and Zequinha de Abreu. Interpreted with refinement and technical authority by Claudio Cruz, the recording stands as both artistic achievement and cultural preservation.

Cláudio Cruz is a leading figure in Brazilian classical music, currently serving as Principal Conductor and Music Director of the São Paulo State Youth Symphony Orchestra and recently as Principal Conductor of the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theatre Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as a guest conductor with major orchestras across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, alongside extensive activity with Brazil’s principal ensembles. Cruz has held significant artistic leadership roles, conducted major opera productions, and recorded widely varied repertoire. A former long-serving concertmaster of OSESP, he is the recipient of numerous national and international awards, reflecting his broad artistic impact.
