Franz Schubert’s 1816 violin sonatas, D. 384 in D major, D. 385 in A minor, and D. 408 in G minor, capture the composer at a pivotal moment, transitioning from academic study to a full-time musical career. Crafted for the intimate settings of Viennese salons, these works exemplify the Classical accompanied sonata, with piano and violin engaging as equal partners in lyrical dialogue. On Schubert: The Sonatinas for Piano & Violin, Jerilyn Jorgensen and Cullan Bryant draw on their expertise in historically informed performance to highlight the clarity, balance, and expressive nuance of Op. 137, offering a refined interpretation of Schubert’s early chamber music within the evolving Romantic idiom.

Violinist, conductor, and educator Jerilyn Jorgensen is a distinguished performer of music spanning all eras, with a particular expertise in historically informed classical performance. Alongside her duo partner, pianist Cullan Bryant, she has presented period-instrument performances at prestigious venues including the National Music Museum, the Frederick Collection of Historic Pianos, and the Historic Keyboard Society of North America conference. Jorgensen was founding first violinist of the DaVinci Quartet, prizewinner of the Shostakovich International String Quartet Competition, with recordings on the Naxos label. A dedicated educator, she serves on the faculty of Colorado College and has taught at Lamont School of Music and SUNY Potsdam, holding degrees from Eastman and Juilliard.

Pianist and collaborator Cullan Bryant was a highly active figure in New York City’s chamber music scene, performing over 50 recitals annually before an ischemic stroke in 2024 affected his right-hand dexterity. He has performed with distinguished artists such as Midori, Emanuel Borok, and members of major string quartets, appearing in venues including Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, and Carnegie Hall. Bryant is also a specialist in historic keyboard instruments, with acclaimed recordings on early pianos, including Beethoven’s complete works for piano four hands. A child prodigy, he studied with Robert Goldsand and Artur Balsam and earned numerous international awards throughout his career.
