Gottlieb Muffat (1690–1770), son of the celebrated Georg Muffat, was promoted early as a musical prodigy, much like Mozart later would be. After his father’s death, he trained in Vienna under Johann Joseph Fux, whose mentorship helped secure him a position at the Hofkapelle. Muffat published only two collections in his lifetime and appears to have stopped composing after 1739 to focus on teaching and performing. His keyboard partitas, likely from this earlier period, blend French-style dances with exploratory preludes. Though less rigorous than Bach’s, the music is melodically appealing and rich in character, featuring imaginative titles drawn from French, English, and Spanish influences.

Roberto Loreggian (b. 1967) is an Italian organist and harpsichordist who trained with top honors before refining his skills at the Conservatory of The Hague under Ton Koopman. He has performed internationally in major venues such as Parco della Musica in Rome, Sala Verdi in Milan, Hercules Saal in Munich, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and Kioi Hall in Tokyo, and at leading festivals including MITO, Sagra Malatestiana, and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. Active as both soloist and collaborator, he has worked with numerous prominent orchestras. Loreggian has an extensive discography for labels such as Chandos, Tactus, Arts, and Brilliant, with several award-winning recordings, including complete keyboard works by Frescobaldi, Gabrieli, Galuppi, and Handel. He currently teaches at the Conservatory C. Pollini in Padova.
