Pianist Alice Sara Ott releases the second EP in her project of piano transcriptions of works by late Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. Piano Works – From Englabörn features premiere recordings of newly published piano scores from Jóhannsson’s first solo album, offering haunting and intimate interpretations that reveal new nuances of his music. Ott highlights how Jóhannsson’s ensemble-based compositions translate naturally to the piano, enhancing their clarity and purity. This EP follows an earlier digital release focused on Jóhannsson’s film music and leads toward a full album of his most celebrated works, planned for release next year.

Alice Sara Ott (born August 1, 1988) is a German-Japanese pianist known for her visionary artistry, technical brilliance, and innovative approach to classical music. A former student of Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Salzburg Mozarteum, she has won multiple international competitions and recorded for Deutsche Grammophon for over 15 years, achieving more than 500 million streams. In the 2024–25 season, Ott performs with major orchestras including the London Symphony and Bayerischer Rundfunk, and tours internationally with Bryce Dessner’s Piano Concerto. She releases two albums in 2025: John Field’s complete nocturnes and piano works by Jóhann Jóhannsson, the latter recorded in Iceland.
