Flow is a chamber music album recorded two years ago by flutist Anete Toča and pianist Mārtiņš Zilberts, released this year by the Prima Classic label. Sadly, Zilberts did not live to see the album’s release. The programme brings together works by Latvian composers Pēteris Vasks, Maija Einfelde, Jānis Lūsēns, and Lolita Ritmane, alongside music by Robert Schumann and French composers Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Georges Bizet, and Jules Massenet, creating a dialogue between Latvian music, Romanticism, and French repertoire.
Anete Toča is a distinguished Latvian flutist and cultural producer, a member of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra since 2009, and former principal flutist of Orchestra “Rīga” (2006–2016). She has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician with ensembles such as NYX Trio, Quintus Anima, and Denmark’s Carion Quintet, and as a guest with top orchestras across Europe. As executive director of Sinfonietta Rīga since 2016, she has organized major festivals and projects, including recordings and collaborations with renowned artists like Marina Rebeka, Elīna Garanča, and Joshua Bell. She holds a master’s in flute performance from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
Mārtiņš Zilberts (1977–2024) was a highly acclaimed Latvian pianist, répétiteur, and accompanist. From 2008 until his passing, he served as principal repetiteur at the Latvian National Opera and was a dedicated lecturer in chamber ensemble and piano accompaniment at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music. As a soloist and collaborative pianist, he performed with leading Latvian orchestras and founded numerous chamber projects, including the LNSO Piano Trio, “Breakfast for Four,” and Undertango. Renowned for his work with internationally celebrated singers, Zilberts earned the Latvian National Opera Foundation Award (2018) and a Grand Music Award nomination (2019). He trained at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School and earned a master’s in chamber music from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
