Anton Gerzenberg, winner of the 2021 Géza Anda Competition, marks the 175th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth with his debut album for Prospero Classical, Ravel Reflections. The recording is conceived as both a tribute and a musical inquiry, presenting Ravel’s works alongside pieces by Balakirev, Liszt, and Godowsky. Through this curated program, Gerzenberg illuminates the composer’s sophistication, the artistic currents that shaped him, and the far-reaching influence his music exerted in turn. The album positions Ravel within a broader landscape of interconnected ideas, showcasing Gerzenberg’s interpretive acuity and offering a richly contextual exploration of the French composer’s legacy.

Anton Gerzenberg (b. 1996, Hamburg) has quickly become a distinctive voice among today’s young pianists. Winner of the 2021 Géza Anda Competition and designated a “Great Talent” at the Wiener Konzerthaus from 2022 to 2024, he is recognized for his virtuosity, refined tonal palette, and intellectual rigor. His dedication to contemporary music—shaped by studies with Pierre-Laurent Aimard—is reflected in projects such as touring Ligeti’s complete Etudes and co-founding the ÉRMA Ensemble. A member of a prominent musical family, he ranges confidently from early repertoire to works by Lachenmann and Boulez. Gerzenberg has appeared at major venues and festivals worldwide, collaborating with leading orchestras, conductors, and artists including Martha Argerich.
