The album explores the cello’s full expressive range, combining technical virtuosity with profound emotional depth. Tetzlaff’s intensely focused performances illuminate the structural sophistication of each work while revealing the instrument’s powerful and resonant voice.
Born in Frankfurt in 1997, cellist Simon Tetzlaff began his musical training at an early age and developed rapidly through studies in Germany, Austria, and the United States. He has worked with distinguished teachers including Julian Steckel, Clemens Hagen, and Ralph Kirshbaum, and completed the Artist Diploma at USC Thornton. A recipient of numerous prestigious scholarships and the 2024 Janos Starker Foundation Award, Tetzlaff performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared with leading orchestras and at major festivals, collaborates with renowned artists, and plays a Vuillaume cello courtesy of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
