French soprano Julie Roset is an emerging artist of the younger generation, distinguished by major international accolades including First Prize at Operalia in 2023 and victory at the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition in 2022. Nominated as Révélation Lyrique at the 2025 Victoires de la Musique Classique, she now presents her debut recital, marking the beginning of a multi-project collaboration with Alpha Classics. Joined by pianist Susan Manoff, Roset offers a carefully curated program of French mélodies that highlights her coloratura brilliance and expressive charm, featuring works by Debussy, Poulenc, and lesser-known composers such as Isabelle Aboulker, Mel Bonis, and Louis Beydts.
French soprano Julie Roset is widely recognized for her radiant tone, expressive phrasing, and stylistic versatility in opera and concert repertoire. She has appeared on major international stages including the Opéra national de Paris, Opéra-Comique, Teatro Real, Salzburg Festival, and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, with notable debuts at The Metropolitan Opera and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Her repertoire spans Baroque to twentieth-century works, and she collaborates with leading conductors, directors, and historically informed ensembles. Trained in Avignon, Geneva, and at the Juilliard School, Roset is a laureate of major competitions including Operalia, the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and the Victoires de la Musique Classique.
Pianist Susan Manoff, born in New York to Latvian and German parents, studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the University of Oregon before specializing in art song with Gwendolyn Koldofsky. She is regarded as one of the leading collaborative pianists of her generation, performing regularly at major international venues and festivals. Deeply committed to chamber music and interdisciplinary projects, she has collaborated with prominent actors and directors and is a frequent guest on France Musique. Manoff has an extensive discography on major labels and is a professor at the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse de Paris. She was named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2011.
