The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi remains one of the most recognizable works in classical music, inspiring countless adaptations across genres. This recording pairs the original concertos with a Prelude and three Intermezzi composed in 2016 by Swiss composer Fabian Muller, who offers atmospheric introductions that foreshadow Vivaldi’s imagery without altering the original scores. Violinist Silvan Dezini seeks a natural, unembellished interpretation, highlighting connections between Baroque and contemporary sound worlds. The program concludes with Vivaldi’s virtuosic La Follia, underscoring the enduring vitality and expressive range of his music across centuries.

Fabian Müller (born 1964) is an internationally recognized Swiss composer whose works have been premiered by leading artists including David Zinman, Andris Nelsons, and Dame Evelyn Glennie, and performed at major venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Elbphilharmonie, Tonhalle Zürich, and Teatro Colón. He has received commissions from prominent festivals including the Lucerne Festival and Vestfold Festspillene. His recent operas, EIGER (2021/22) and the family opera Heidi und das Weihnachtswunder (2022/23), were met with critical and public acclaim. A recipient of the Swiss Music Prize (2016), Müller was nominated for the 2024 OPUS Klassik Award as Composer of the Year. Alongside composing and directing festivals, he has also contributed significantly to Swiss folk music research.

Silvan Dezini is a rising Swiss violinist who began his musical training at age seven in Spreitenbach. A multiple first-prize winner with distinction, he has performed as a soloist in Switzerland and internationally, appearing with ensembles such as the Bavarian Philharmonic and the Franz Schmidt Chamber Orchestra. He has collaborated with violinist Sebastian Bohren and performed with the Aargau-based ensemble Chaarts, while refining his artistry in masterclasses with renowned pedagogues including Igor Ozim and Ana Chumachenko. After earning his bachelor’s degree at the Zurich University of the Arts, Dezini is pursuing a master’s in Music Pedagogy in Bern. He performs on a historic Grancino violin and serves as artistic director of the Ostinato concert series in Aargau.
