The Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra (Nürnberger Symphoniker) is a German orchestra based in Nuremberg, performing primarily at the Meistersingerhalle. Founded in 1946 as the Franconia State Orchestra under Erich Kloss, it gained early international recognition through film soundtrack recordings for Quo Vadis and Ben Hur. Renamed in 1963, the orchestra has since built a strong reputation in both classical and popular music, earning a Grammy Award in 1993 for Beauty and the Beast. It performs regularly at major festivals, records for radio and commercial labels, and has been led by prominent chief conductors, including Jonathan Darlington since 2022.
