Camerata Salzburg launches its collaboration with Channel Classics through Muses, its first recording with leader Giovanni Guzzo, featuring three neoclassical masterpieces for chamber orchestra by Igor Stravinsky. The program includes the Concerto in E-flat “Dumbarton Oaks,” inspired by the spirit of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos; Apollon musagète, a refined homage to Apollo and the Muses characterized by clarity, balance, and lyrical purity; and the Concerto in D, which explores the full expressive and technical range of the string orchestra. Across these works, the ensemble demonstrates its characteristic precision, tonal depth, and collective artistry, uniting chamber intimacy with orchestral vitality in a cohesive and vibrant interpretation.

Giovanni Guzzo is a Venezuelan-Italian violinist recognized for his versatility as a soloist, chamber musician, conductor, and ensemble leader. He serves as Konzertmeister and artistic leader of Camerata Salzburg, performing internationally at major venues and festivals such as Wigmore Hall, Lincoln Center, the BBC Proms, Salzburg, and Verbier. A protégé of Maurice Hasson, he studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he later became one of its youngest violin professors. An award-winning artist, Guzzo has received widespread acclaim for his recording of Ysaÿe’s solo sonatas and performs on a 1759 Gennaro Gagliano violin.
