Ildebrando Pizzetti (1880–1968), a leading figure of Italy’s “Generation of the Eighties,” sought to renew Italian music by reconnecting it with Renaissance and Baroque traditions. His style, shaped by modal harmony, counterpoint, and vocal lyricism, bridges late Romanticism and early modernism. The Piano Trio in A major (1904) reflects Romantic influences tempered by Italian warmth and structural clarity. By contrast, the Tre Canti for cello and piano (1924) represent his mature voice, marked by austerity, chant-like melody, and introspective expression. Together with short violin pieces, these works trace Pizzetti’s evolution toward a timeless, personal idiom.

Since its founding, Trio Hèrmes has pursued advanced chamber music training with leading institutions and ensembles, including the Trio di Parma, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Accademia Walter Stauffer, and international academies such as the MDW in Vienna and ECMA. A prizewinner at major Italian competitions, the Trio was named Ensemble of the Year 2023 by Le Dimore del Quartetto and received the Premio Giovanna Maniezzo 2024 from the Accademia Chigiana. It performs widely across Europe, with major international tours forthcoming, records for Brilliant Classics, collaborates closely with Rai Radio 3, and is deeply engaged in contemporary and interdisciplinary projects.
