Jean-Baptiste Gravier (1723–1799), known as l’abbé Gravier, was a French priest, composer, and organist active primarily in the Occitan region. Trained in Toulouse, he served as organist in several cities, with a formative stay in Paris in 1759. His Six Sonates pour le Clavecin (1759) are among his most significant works, revealing a refined harpsichord style influenced by Italian models, combining clarity of melody, harmonic richness, and expressive virtuosity. Fernando De Luca (born 1961 in Rome) is an Italian harpsichordist, composer, and pedagogue specializing in Baroque music. Trained at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory, he studied piano, organ, and harpsichord, and refined his skills through close collaboration with Domenico Bartolucci at the Vatican. An award-winning performer, he has appeared widely across Europe and North America and is renowned for reviving neglected Baroque repertoire. De Luca is particularly celebrated for his pioneering recordings of Handel’s complete harpsichord works. He teaches historical keyboards in Cagliari and remains active as a performer, composer, and scholar.
