Recorded at Noirlac Abbey in January 2025, this album is dedicated to Denis Raisin Dadre, who passed away later that year. As founder of Doulce Mémoire, he oversaw the project from conception to completion. The recording centers on Lagrime di San Pietro by Orlando di Lasso and Lagrime del peccatore by Lodovico Agostini, both poignant late works addressing Peter’s denial of Christ. Composed in 1594 and 1586 respectively, these pieces stand as each composer’s final testament, juxtaposing Lasso’s supreme contrapuntal mastery with Agostini’s emotionally charged chromaticism and expressive intensity.

Doulce Mémoire, founded in 1989 by Denis Raisin Dadre, embodies the exploratory and creative spirit of the Renaissance through innovative, interdisciplinary productions that often incorporate actors and dancers. Its wide-ranging programs span sacred masterworks such as Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Missa pro victoria to imaginative re-creations of courtly festivities. Performing at major theatres and festivals in France and abroad—as well as unconventional venues worldwide—the ensemble fosters cross-cultural dialogue through collaborations with international artists. Particularly active in the Centre-Val de Loire and associated with the Château de Chambord, Doulce Mémoire has earned critical acclaim and numerous awards for its recordings and multimedia projects.
