In Encore!, Dora Deliyska explores the encore not merely as a concert’s conclusion but as a bridge between performance and silence. The programme is shaped in three parts: four Schubert works whose keys form a diminished seventh chord; a शांत central “island” of Arvo Pärt and Johann Sebastian Bach, where delicate pianissimo writing reveals the piano’s rich palette of tone colours; and a final section devoted to romantic, virtuosic encores. Liszt’s Liebestraum and Kreisler/Rachmaninov’s Liebesleid provide emotional peaks, while spirited works by Fazıl Say close the recital brilliantly. For Deliyska, the encore is a powerful, unpredictable final message to the audience.
