Since 2010, Christian Lindberg and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra have undertaken a comprehensive cycle of the orchestral works of Allan Pettersson, celebrated for his intensely personal and emotionally charged symphonies. Symphony No. 3 (1956), Pettersson’s only four-movement symphony, reflects early influences of Shostakovich, Sibelius, and Mahler, offering a concise yet original musical landscape. Symphony No. 8 (1972), his most renowned work, features extended, “never-ending” melodic lines and profound autobiographical depth, exemplifying Pettersson’s philosophy of music as a reflection of life: “The work I am working on is my own life… I devote myself to it in order to rediscover the song that the soul once sang.”

Christian Lindberg (born 1958), hailed as one of the greatest brass players in history, has revolutionized the trombone repertoire with over 300 premieres, including 135 major concertos, and more than 150 solo recordings. Recognized by Classic FM as “The Greatest Brass Player in History” (2015) and named “International Classical Music Award Artist of the Year” (2016), he has also embarked on a distinguished conducting career with major orchestras worldwide. Founder of European Gramophone, Lindberg has released over 150 albums, collaborating with top ensembles and festivals. As a composer, he has written over 50 commissioned works, adhering to his intuitive, style-independent philosophy: to transcribe what his mind and soul hear.
