Katya Apekisheva, born in Moscow into a family of musicians, trained at the Gnessin Music School, the Rubin Music Academy in Jerusalem, and the Royal College of Music in London. A prodigious talent, she debuted at age twelve and went on to win prizes, including at the Leeds International Piano Competition. Renowned for her expressive artistry, she has performed with leading orchestras worldwide under eminent conductors and collaborated with prominent chamber musicians. Her acclaimed discography spans works by Mussorgsky, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Dvořák, and Rachmaninov. Alongside performing, she co-directs the London Piano Festival and maintains a celebrated piano duo partnership with Charles Owen.
