Joanna Ławrynowicz, born in Warsaw into a family with strong musical traditions, began studying piano at age four and graduated with honours from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw under Professor Teresa Manasterska, later continuing studies with Professor Halina Czerny-Stefańska. She has won numerous international competitions, including the Steinway & Sons Competition in Berlin and the Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, and received the “Young Poland” scholarship. An active international soloist and chamber musician, she has performed worldwide and recorded over 30 CDs, many featuring complete works and world premiere recordings. She also teaches internationally, serves as a competition juror, publishes performance editions, and is currently a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.
