Leokadiya Kashperova (1872–1940), a Russian composer and pianist, was notably the piano teacher of Igor Stravinsky and a former student of Anton Rubinstein. Despite her strong musical lineage and evident talent, her compositions have largely remained overshadowed by the prominent male Russian composers of her era, a circumstance common for many women musicians of the time. Although her body of work is relatively small compared with that of her contemporaries, it reveals remarkable musical ability, refined craftsmanship, and a deeply expressive Romantic style characteristic of the Russian tradition in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
German pianist Oliver Triendl (born 1970) is a passionate advocate for neglected and rarely performed composers, with nearly 150 recordings to his name. Renowned for his vast repertoire—encompassing around 90 piano concertos and hundreds of chamber works—he has frequently introduced forgotten or new compositions to modern audiences. Triendl has performed with major orchestras such as the Bamberg and Munich Symphonies, Berlin Radio Symphony, and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, collaborating with leading artists and ensembles worldwide. A prizewinner of numerous competitions, he studied with Gerhard Oppitz and Oleg Maisenberg, and has appeared at major international festivals and concert halls across Europe and beyond.
Anna Skryleva, winner of the Opus Klassik Award 2024, is an internationally recognized conductor, composer, and pianist known for her innovative artistic vision. A musical prodigy who began composing at age eight, she studied composition at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and later developed a conducting career shaped by mentors such as Simone Young and Julia Jones. As General Music Director of Theater Magdeburg (2019–2025), she gained international attention for rediscovering and recording Eugen Engel’s opera Grete Minde. Skryleva regularly collaborates with leading orchestras and opera houses and is set to debut at La Scala and the Sydney Opera House in 2025–2026. Her repertoire spans classical, Romantic, twentieth-century, and contemporary music.
