Evangelina Mascardi presents a compelling exploration of 18th-century lute music with her recording of Concerto for Lute RV 93, composed during Antonio Vivaldi’s stay in Prague (1729–30). This album completes Mascardi’s 18th-century trilogy, following her editions of Johann Sebastian Bach and Silvius Leopold Weiss. Alongside Vivaldi’s celebrated concerto, the program features four rare lute works by composers such as Joachim Bernard Hagen and Karl Ignaz Augustin Kohaut, recorded for the first time. Accompanied by the Estrovagante orchestra under Riccardo Doni, Mascardi revives the rococo idiom, illuminating the virtuosic repertoire of an instrument soon eclipsed by changing musical tastes.

Evangelina Mascardi, born in Buenos Aires in 1977, is a distinguished performer and scholar of early music. Trained in guitar and lute in Buenos Aires and Basel, she collaborated with leading ensembles including Hespèrion XXI, Il Giardino Armonico, and the Monteverdi Choir before focusing on a solo career across Europe. Her acclaimed recordings include Ferita d’amore (2011), Milano spagnola (2019), and complete lute works of Johann Sebastian Bach (2022) and selected works of Silvius Leopold Weiss (2024), earning numerous awards. She currently teaches lute at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Music.
