Circa Diem (“almost a day”) presents a musical journey inspired by the cyclical movement of the sun, tracing the progression of light from deep night through dawn, midday brightness, golden hour, and dusk. Performed by the trio Les Heures Bleues, the project centers on Tomaso Albinoni’s Opus 1, using four of its sonatas to reflect different moments in the daily solar cycle and symbolically evoke the broader cycles of life—birth, growth, maturity, and decline. To connect this Baroque foundation with the present, contemporary composers including Virginie Tasset, Max Charue, Patrick Leterme, Jimmy Bonesso, and Muhiddin Dürrüoğlu contribute new works inspired by these light–sonata correspondences, extending Albinoni’s legacy with modern musical perspectives.

Les Heures Bleues is an innovative trio dedicated to connecting musical eras and sound worlds by combining Baroque repertoire with contemporary works. The ensemble—Adèle Legrand (flute), Pauline Oreins (accordion), and Solène Beaudet (cello)—explores the distinctive textures created by their rarely combined instruments. Following a year of research and artistic residencies in Saint-Gilles, the trio introduced their project Circa Diem in February 2024. The project received strong public interest and media attention, including recognition from InfoCulture Saint-Gilles. Their work was further acknowledged through selection for Propulse Classique at Flagey in June 2024 and a performance grant from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
