Organist Lukas Hasler’s debut album Gold showcases his inventive transcriptions and arrangements, highlighting the organ’s capacity to reinterpret orchestral and pianistic works. Inspired by Mozart’s G Major Sonata in Grieg’s two-piano version, Hasler explores the transformative potential of the instrument, recording in the acoustically luminous Golden Hall of Vienna’s Musikverein. The album spans a spectrum of styles and moods, from Bach’s vibrant Sinfonia and Schumann’s intimate Romance to Beethoven’s serene “Moonlight” Adagio and Bruckner’s symphonic Scherzo. Hasler’s imaginative interpretations, including Carmen Fantasy, Rachmaninoff’s Prelude, and original organ pieces, celebrate both artistic innovation and the resonant, golden character of the Viennese organ.
