Hornist John Little, an award-winning performer and advocate for the horn as a solo instrument, presents his third album in this vein, Horn Evolution!. While solo repertoire often centers on instruments such as piano, harp, or violin, Little highlights the expressive potential of the horn in a standalone role. The album features a broad selection of works spanning from the Baroque period to contemporary music, allowing him to demonstrate both technical skill and musical sensitivity. Characterized by a dignified, warm, and lyrical tone, the recording showcases the instrument’s unique beauty and versatility, appealing to dedicated horn enthusiasts while also inviting new listeners to appreciate the horn’s solo repertoire.

John Little is an accomplished hornist, educator, and advocate for the horn as a solo instrument. He has performed widely as a touring member of the Starlight Horn Duo and as a featured soloist with organizations including the Jewish Community Orchestra, the Kentuckiana Philharmonic, and at events such as the Northeast Horn Workshop and the Southern Indiana Mozart Festival. His recordings include the solo album Hornistic and the Navona Records release Horn Evolution, both available on streaming platforms. An experienced teacher, he has taught at Centre College, the University of Louisville Community Music Program, and Bellarmine University. An MTNA-certified Master Teacher and recipient of the 2008 MTNA STaR Award, Little is also a Hans Hoyer concert artist and representative of Buffet Crampon USA.
