Danielle Laval, a distinguished French pianist prominent with EMI France in the 1970s, was a student of Vlado Perlemuter and inherited his deep commitment to French repertoire along with exceptional legato technique. She gained initial recognition through recordings before establishing a major concert career. Under the guidance of artistic director Peter de Jongh, she debuted with an album of rarely performed études by composers such as Lazare-Lévy and Blumenfeld. Laval’s extensive repertoire ranges from Rameau to Debussy, and she notably produced the first complete recording devoted to Cécile Chaminade, highlighting her artistic breadth and dedication.
Danielle Laval, born in 1939, graduated with top honors from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris under Vlado Perlemuter and was praised by Arthur Rubinstein for her virtuosity and sensitivity. Renowned for her artistic rigor and expressive legato, she commands a vast repertoire from canonical composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart to lesser-known works. An internationally respected performer, she has appeared with leading orchestras and conductors and at prestigious festivals, while maintaining a strong presence in chamber music. Her extensive discography spans major labels and diverse repertoire, including film music. She has also contributed to education and artistic collaboration, notably serving as a competition jury president.
