Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s acclaimed recording cycle of Mozart’s piano concertos concludes with its twelfth volume, bringing to a close a project that spanned nine years. The programme has a celebratory character, featuring the overtures to Idomeneo and La finta semplice, the A major and D major Rondos for piano and orchestra, the Concerto for three pianos, and the Double Piano Concerto. Bavouzet reflects on the mixture of fulfillment and nostalgia that accompanies the completion of such a long undertaking. The recordings were made with the Manchester Camerata under the direction of Gábor Takács-Nagy, whose idea to combine the concertos with operatic overtures enriched the project and highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the series.

Jean-Efflam Bavouzet (b. 1962, Lannion, France) is a celebrated French pianist renowned for his versatility and artistry. A graduate of the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied with Pierre Sancan, he has collaborated with major figures such as Sir Georg Solti, Pierre Boulez, and György Kurtág. Bavouzet champions both core repertoire and lesser-known French composers like Gabriel Pierné and Albéric Magnard. Named ICMA Artist of the Year in 2012, he has performed with leading orchestras worldwide and at major festivals including Verbier and Bravo! Vail. His extensive discography has earned numerous international awards, including Gramophone and Diapason d’Or distinctions.
