In this recital, prize-winning Canadian pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko presents a program centered on the evolving musical language of Alexander Scriabin, tracing his development from early works to the expressive intensity and harmonic volatility of Piano Sonata No. 5, one of his creative peaks. The program highlights Scriabin’s stylistic transformation toward a more sensuous and experimental idiom. As a contrasting counterpart, Izik-Dzurko performs the brooding Piano Sonata No. 1 in D minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff, offering a more traditionally structured yet emotionally weighty perspective. A complementary digital release also features four of Scriabin’s early piano works, further illustrating the breadth of his compositional evolution.

Jaeden Izik-Dzurko (b. 1999) is an internationally acclaimed pianist recognized for his clarity, sincerity, and depth of interpretation. He gained major prominence after winning the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition and becoming the first Canadian to receive the Grand Prize at the Concours musical international de Montréal, alongside a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. He has performed at leading venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, and London’s Wigmore Hall.
