Roberto Prosseda presents a recording of the complete solo piano works of Georges Bizet, released in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death in 2025. The album highlights Bizet’s lesser-known piano output, including Chants du Rhin, alongside preludes, nocturnes, and waltzes that reflect Romantic influences from Mendelssohn and Chopin. Widely recognized for his versatility and international career, Prosseda first gained prominence through his acclaimed recordings of Mendelssohn’s complete piano works and has since collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors worldwide. The project’s scholarly context is reinforced by liner notes from Bizet specialist Hugh Macdonald, further emphasizing its musicological significance.

Roberto Prosseda is a highly active and versatile Italian pianist born in 1975 in Latina, Lazio, known for his wide-ranging international career and acclaimed recordings. He gained international recognition through his Decca project of the complete piano works of Felix Mendelssohn, and has collaborated with major orchestras such as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig under Riccardo Chailly. Prosseda is particularly noted for interpretations of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, and Chopin, including a complete Mozart sonata cycle. He has also championed rare repertoire, notably works for pedal piano and modern rediscoveries of early 20th-century Italian composers. Alongside performing, he is active in broadcasting, writing, and educational projects, contributing significantly to contemporary classical music culture.
