Franz Danzi (1763–1826) is often remembered for his prolific and imaginative wind quintets, though this represents only a small part of his broader and stylistically diverse output. Positioned at a transitional moment in music history, he bridges the late Classical tradition of the Mannheim school with emerging Romantic sensibilities. Influenced by composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and later associated with the circle of Carl Maria von Weber, Danzi combined courtly restraint with subtle innovation. His works reflect both elegance and forward-looking ideas, resulting in music that can appear unexpectedly progressive alongside the more radical developments of contemporaries like Beethoven.
Lorenzo Gabriele is an Italian flautist born in Rome with a broad musical background spanning classical training and diverse contemporary genres such as jazz, funk, soul, Latin, folk, and rock. After completing his academic studies in modern flute performance, he worked with various ensembles, orchestras, and theatres across Italy in both classical and crossover contexts. He later specialized in historically informed performance, studying period flutes from the Baroque, Classical, and early Romantic eras at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt under Prof. Karl Kaiser. A prizewinner of the 2015 International Telemann Competition, he is active as a performer, collaborator, and founder of the ensemble La Tabatière.
