Recorded before a small audience at the historic Schloss Eberstall in Bavaria, Mahan is joined by the Mozarteum Quartett and double bassist Martin Hinterholzer in Ignaz Lachner’s arrangements of Mozart’s Piano Concertos in D minor, K. 466, and C major, K. 503. The album also features solo piano works, including the overture to Die Zauberflöte (arranged by Mahan), the C minor Fantasie and Sonata K. 475, the Adagio for Glass Harmonica, Variations on “Ah, vous dirai-je Maman,” and Mozart’s final piano sonata, K. 576, showcasing both virtuosic and intimate aspects of his repertoire.
