Markus Poschner is a German conductor and pianist born in Munich in 1971. He studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Hermann Michael and was influenced by mentors including Sir Roger Norrington, Sir Colin Davis, and Jorma Panula. Poschner has held major posts such as chief conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and will serve as chief conductor of the Sinfonieorchester Basel from the 2025–2026 season. He is also appointed music director-designate of the Utah Symphony. Known for both symphonic and operatic work, he has conducted internationally and is also active as a jazz pianist and educator.
