The Butter Quartet is an ensemble dedicated to historically informed performances of string quartet repertoire, formed during their studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. They have since appeared at major festivals across Europe and gained international radio exposure. Recognized early in their career, they were selected for the EEEMERGING+ scheme following the 2019 York Early Music Competition and have received multiple grants and awards. Their activities include a North American tour and the release of their debut album Scintilla in 2024. Combining scholarly research with expressive performance, they engage diverse audiences and collaborate widely, guided by leading figures in early music.
