Freedom is an atmospheric ambient harp album that emphasizes the instrument’s natural resonance and expansive sonic textures. It merges acoustic clarity with subtle electronic elements to create immersive soundscapes characterized by stillness, openness, and emotional release. The work explores themes of inner peace, surrender, and the pursuit of both personal and artistic authenticity. In this solo project, Margaret Hermant—known for her work with Echo Collective—demonstrates a refined sensitivity to tone, layering, and emotional nuance, resulting in a contemplative and deeply expressive listening experience.

Margaret Hermant is a Brussels-based violinist, harpist, and composer, and a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. A founding member of Echo Collective, she works at the intersection of contemporary classical and experimental music. Her career includes collaborations with artists such as Jóhann Jóhannsson and Dustin O’Halloran, contributing to the evolution of post-classical music. Alongside collaborative projects, she composes for film, theatre, and installations, often blending harp and violin with electronics. Her debut album Freedom presents a cinematic, emotionally driven sound world centered on harp and electronic interplay.
