Nikolai Peiko (1916–1995) was a leading figure of the Moscow composition school and a distinguished Soviet symphonist whose extensive output spans symphonic, chamber, and stage works, as well as concertos and film scores. This recording is notable for featuring the composer himself as pianist in his own arrangement of Concert Fantasy No. 2 for violin and piano. The violin part is performed by the acclaimed young musician Viktor Tretyakov. The album’s release commemorates the 110th anniversary of Peiko’s birth, underscoring both his artistic legacy and his contribution as a performer.
