Encuentro en Buenos Aires is a collaborative project by Edith Fischer and José Luis Juri, featuring a substantial work for four pianos. The recording marks their first joint album, produced in Buenos Aires and showcasing their artistic partnership. The release, issued by the Virtuoso label and distributed by Naxos, highlights both pianists’ interpretative synergy and brings attention to a distinctive addition to the contemporary piano repertoire.

Edith Fischer (born 1935 in Santiago) is a distinguished pianist who emerged as a child prodigy, performing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 1 at age twelve with the Chilean Symphony Orchestra under Hermann Scherchen. Supported by figures such as Eugene Ormandy, she studied in New York with Claudio Arrau. Fischer later won major European prizes, including the Dinu Lipatti Prize, and built an international career. In 1989, she founded the Semaine Internationale de Piano de Blonay-St.-Légier, while maintaining a broad repertoire spanning Beethoven, Ravel, and contemporary composers.

José Luis Juri, born in Buenos Aires, is an internationally active pianist who began his musical studies at the age of four with prominent Argentine teachers. He later pursued advanced training in Europe, studying at the Accademia Chigiana with Paul Badura-Skoda and Rudolf Buchbinder, and further refining his artistry in Switzerland under Edith Fischer. Juri has performed extensively across more than 15 countries, appearing at major venues such as Teatro alla Scala and Teatro Colón. Alongside his performance career, he is a recording artist, educator, and longtime artistic director of the International Piano Encounters.
