This album invites listeners into an intimate musical journey, reflecting both the youthful discovery of Robert Schumann’s music and the mature perspective of an artist shaped by years of performance experience. Rather than presenting a conventional clarinet-and-piano interpretation of Schumann’s works, the recording weaves together the Fantasiestücke, Romances, and Dichterliebe into a deeply personal narrative. At its heart is the artistic story of Romain Guyot and his creative collaboration with Chloe Mun, whose partnership brings emotional depth, reflection, and individuality to this exploration of Schumann’s musical world.

Romain Guyot is a distinguished French clarinetist who has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe since the late 1990s and became its Principal Clarinet in 2008. Born in Fontainebleau, France, he began teaching himself music at a young age before pursuing formal clarinet studies. At just 16, he was appointed principal clarinet of the European Union Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado. He later served as principal clarinet of the Orchestre National de l'Opéra de Paris and gained international recognition after winning the Young Concert Artist International Auditions in New York and the ARD Competition in Munich. Alongside a global solo career and acclaimed recordings, Guyot teaches in Geneva and Seoul and is also known for his passion for endurance sports and mountaineering.

Chloe Jiyeong Mun gained international recognition at the age of 18 after winning first prize at the Geneva International Music Competition in 2014, followed by victory at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 2015. Since then, she has established herself as one of the leading pianists of her generation, collaborating with distinguished conductors including Myung-whun Chung and Yuri Bashmet, and performing with major orchestras across Europe and Asia. She has appeared at prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall and the Gewandhaus. A dedicated chamber musician, she released her debut album featuring works by Robert Schumann with Deutsche Grammophon. Born in Yeosu in 1995, she studied at the Korea National University of Arts and later at the Barenboim-Said Academy under András Schiff.
