Ariana Kashefi and pianist Petr Limonov present In Parallel, a collaborative recording exploring the expressive Romantic language of turn-of-the-20th-century composers Sergei Rachmaninoff, Amy Beach, and Alma Mahler. Shaped by over a decade of artistic partnership and refined through live performance, the album reflects a deep interpretive cohesion between the performers. Kashefi’s lyrical cello playing and Limonov’s nuanced pianism, informed by training with mentors such as Maria João Pires and Dmitri Alexeev, bring together distinct musical voices into a unified interpretive vision that highlights emotional depth, stylistic contrast, and late-Romantic expression.
Ariana Kashefi is a British-Persian cellist recognized for her expressive artistry and international career as both soloist and chamber musician. She performs regularly in leading venues including Wigmore Hall, the Pierre Boulez Saal, and the Berlin Philharmonie, and has appeared with orchestras across Europe. A prizewinner of international competitions, she is especially noted for her commitment to contemporary music and the expansion of cello repertoire through premieres and collaborations with living composers. Kashefi trained at institutions such as the Royal College of Music and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, studying with mentors including Steven Isserlis and Frans Helmerson.
Petr Limonov is a Russian-British pianist born in Moscow in 1984, who began piano studies at an early age and trained at leading institutions across Europe. He studied at the Central Music School in Moscow under prominent teachers including Siavush Gadjiev, Valery Piasetsky, and Andrei Pisarev, before launching an international career after winning First Prize at the Nikolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition. Limonov continued his education at the Royal Academy of Music, the École Normale de Musique de Paris, and the Royal College of Music, studying with mentors such as Hamish Milne, Ramzi Yassa, and Dmitri Alexeev. He has performed widely across Europe and also trained in conducting, making his professional debut at Cadogan Hall in 2013.
