This album presents a refined selection of vocal works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, spanning from the youthful Op. 4 romances to the visionary Six Romances, Op. 38. Through beloved songs such as Lilac, Spring Waters, Vocalise, and Zdes’ khorosho, the program explores themes of love, memory, longing, and nature with lyrical intimacy and emotional richness. Nadine Koutcher delivers these miniatures with striking dramatic intensity and vocal elegance, while Dmitry Pavliy provides nuanced and sensitive accompaniment that highlights Rachmaninoff’s expressive harmonies and poetic depth. Together, the artists offer interpretations rooted in the Russian vocal tradition, creating an intimate and timeless tribute to the composer’s lyrical genius.
Nadine Koutcher graduated from the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in 2011, where she studied vocal performance with Professor Tamara Novichenko. Semishina, and I. V. Vasilieva. He later pursued postgraduate studies as a solo pianist and has since built a distinguished career as a specialist accompanist. Since 2008, he has worked closely as principal accompanist in the vocal class of Tamara Novichenko, later joining the Conservatory’s Piano Accompaniment Department as a faculty member in 2014.
