Centered on the many dimensions of love in Romantic art song, this program weaves together works by Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss, Alexander Zemlinsky, and Richard Wagner into an expressive musical journey. From the intimate emotional arc of Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben to the melancholic elegance of Zemlinsky’s waltz songs and the spiritual intensity of Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, the program explores longing, devotion, fulfillment, and farewell. Strauss’s flower songs further enrich the atmosphere with reflections on beauty, transience, and enduring affection. Together, the works form a richly textured panorama of love’s emotional and poetic landscapes.
