Embers explores the enduring resonance of the past through works that reinterpret Renaissance and early dance traditions in a modern musical language. Featuring compositions by Joaquín Rodrigo, Federico Mompou, Alexandre Tansman, Francis Poulenc, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Maurice Ravel, and Ennio Morricone, the album transforms historical dances and melodies into intimate, expressive reflections. From the nostalgic elegance of Pavane pour une infante défunte to the timeless spirituality of Gabriel’s Oboe, the program highlights continuity between past and present. Through sensitive interpretations, Davide Giovanni Tomasi brings these centuries-old inspirations vividly to life, creating a deeply atmospheric and timeless listening experience.

Davide Giovanni Tomasi is an internationally acclaimed guitarist and winner of major competitions including the ARD International Music Competition and the Tokyo International Guitar Competition. He performs regularly at leading concert halls and festivals worldwide, including the Philharmonie Berlin, where he performed Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez under Stanley Dodds in 2020. Tomasi has collaborated with distinguished orchestras and artists across Europe and Asia and, since 2025, has served alongside Marco Musso as artistic director of the Ivrea International Guitar Festival and Competition. His debut album Embers, released with Prima Classic, highlights his refined artistry and deep engagement with historical musical traditions.
