Elmira Darvarova and Howard Wall present a wide-ranging double album that functions as a sweeping musical survey spanning roughly 1,000 years of global music history. Featuring 51 tracks, 50 of which are world-premiere recordings, the project traverses an exceptionally diverse landscape of traditions, including medieval chant, Indian raga, Balkan folk idioms, Mongolian throat singing, Baroque works by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, and later European masters like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert. It also incorporates jazz, tango, flamenco, and contemporary influences. The recording highlights a cross-cultural, historically reflective approach, emphasizing reinterpretation, arrangement, and global musical dialogue across 17 countries and multiple continents.
Elmira Darvarova is an internationally acclaimed violinist and Grammy-nominated recording artist recognized for her expressive artistry and pioneering career achievements. She made history as the first female concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, performing under distinguished conductors such as Carlos Kleiber. A student of eminent violin pedagogues including Yfrah Neaman, Josef Gingold, and Henryk Szeryng, she has performed globally and collaborated with numerous prominent artists across genres. Her recordings, including a Billboard-charting album inspired by Indian ragas, have earned critical praise for their tonal beauty and interpretive depth, establishing her as a versatile and influential figure in contemporary classical music.
Howard Wall is an American horn player with an extensive orchestral and chamber music career, most prominently as a long-time member of the New York Philharmonic and formerly the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has also performed with ensembles such as the All-Star Orchestra and appears regularly at major festivals and international venues. Active as both soloist and chamber musician, Wall has collaborated with artists including Elmira Darvarova and Pascal Rogé, and has an extensive discography spanning solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire. His work is widely recognized for technical refinement, tonal richness, and contributions to expanding horn repertoire.
