Hugo Ticciati and the O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra present Milestones, a cross-genre project that places music from different eras in direct dialogue. The album brings together works by Josquin des Prez, Igor Stravinsky, and Miles Davis, shaped around shared anniversary years and O/Modernt’s philosophy of stylistic openness. Recorded in Germany and the UK in 2021, the project highlights connections between Renaissance polyphony, early modernism, and jazz, especially in rhythm, texture, and improvisation. Through flexible ensemble roles and collaborative performance practice, the recording emphasizes attentive listening and collective music-making across genres, eras, and traditions, reframing classical and jazz idioms as part of a continuous musical conversation.
O/Modernt is an internationally acclaimed Swedish musical collective founded in 2011 by violinist and conductor Hugo Ticciati. Known for its “Un/Modern” philosophy, the organization explores connections across musical eras and genres through inventive programming and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Its activities include performances by the O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra, chamber ensembles, new commissions, and educational initiatives such as the New Generation Symphony Orchestra. With appearances at major venues including the Konzerthaus Berlin, Musikverein, and the Elbphilharmonie, O/Modernt has earned international recognition for its innovative artistic vision and is currently in residence at Wigmore Hall.
