Filippo Gorini continues his Sonata for 7 Cities project with its second stage in Cape Town, South Africa, undertaken in September 2025. Alongside concert performances, he focused on educational outreach, working with schools and young musicians from underprivileged communities through teaching, chamber music collaboration, and orchestral coaching. The recording was made at Cape Town City Hall, a site of major historical significance. The program combines key works from the piano repertoire, including Robert Schumann’s Kreisleriana and Franz Schubert’s Sonata in B-flat major, alongside the premiere of Federico Gardella’s Sonata d’Altura, written specifically for Gorini. The project blends performance, education, and contemporary creation into a unified artistic journey.

Filippo Gorini is an internationally acclaimed pianist known for his intellectually rigorous and expressive approach to repertoire ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Franz Schubert to contemporary figures such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and György Kurtág. He has performed at major international venues including Teatro alla Scala, Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, and Wigmore Hall, and has collaborated with leading orchestras such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra. His artistic work includes multidisciplinary projects like The Art of Fugue and the residency series Sonata for 7 Cities, which combine performance, education, and cultural engagement. Gorini has received major honors including the Premio Franco Abbiati, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, and first prize at the Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn, with recordings on Alpha Classics earning critical acclaim from outlets such as The Guardian and BBC Music Magazine.
