The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square is one of the world’s most recognized choral ensembles, celebrated for its rich musical tradition and global cultural influence. Founded in 1847 shortly after the arrival of Latter-day Saint pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley, the 360-member volunteer choir has performed internationally at major concert halls, world expositions, presidential inaugurations, and on global media platforms. Formerly known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the ensemble adopted its current name in 2018 to align more closely with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Its broadcast Music & the Spoken Word, launched in 1929, remains the world’s longest-running continuous network program, reflecting the choir’s enduring mission to inspire audiences worldwide through music, faith, and service.
