In this final volume of his acclaimed series, pianist Cédric Tiberghien concludes his comprehensive exploration of the art of variation across generations. The sweeping survey seamlessly connects Beethoven’s compositional lineage with the twentieth-century avant-garde, juxtaposing the experimental precision of György Ligeti’s Musica ricercata and the evocative, poetic miniatures of György Kurtág’s Játékok. The retrospective culminates with Beethoven’s monumental Diabelli Variations, widely considered the absolute pinnacle of the composer’s keyboard repertoire. Tiberghien's release offers a profound, cross-era dialogue on form, innovation, and the enduring creative possibilities of thematic transformation.

Born in 1975, French pianist Cédric Tiberghien has established a distinguished international career celebrated for his versatile programming, innovative concert formats, and premier chamber partnerships. Renowned for his interpretations of Classical, French, and contemporary repertoire, his notable projects include a multi-season Beethoven variations cycle at Wigmore Hall and an acclaimed, multi-media John Cage collaboration. Tiberghien frequently performs with elite global orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker and San Francisco Symphony. A dedicated chamber musician, he regularly collaborates with baritone Stéphane Degout and maintains a celebrated, period-instrument duo partnership with violinist Alina Ibragimova.
