In this sixth album, the Choir of Girton College, Cambridge, continues its pioneering exploration of Italian Renaissance master Marc’Antonio Ingegneri (c. 1535/36–92). The programme focuses on Christ’s relationship with his disciples through twelve motets, which symbolically frame the five-voice Missa Kyrie Secundi Toni. Marking the world-premiere recordings for all included works, these rediscovered pieces firmly cement Ingegneri’s historical standing alongside his famous contemporaries, Palestrina and Lassus. Ultimately, the collection highlights Ingegneri as an equally masterful, expressive, and distinct voice of his age, further illuminating the depth of the late-Renaissance sacred repertoire.
