Recognized by music historian Charles Burney as one of the three greatest castrati of the late eighteenth century, contralto Giovanni Rubinelli was a defining protagonist during the final era of opera seria. Renowned for his distinct, lower vocal range, numerous contemporary composers crafted works specifically for him. Rubinelli’s illustrious career included a debut at age sixteen in Ludwigsburg, performing in Salieri’s Europa riconosciuta for the historic 1778 inauguration of Milan's La Scala, and acclaimed London appearances in Handel's Giulio Cesare. Modern countertenor Filippo Mineccia revives this legacy, offering a sensitive and virtuoso musical portrait of Rubinelli’s artistry.

Florentine countertenor Filippo Mineccia is internationally recognized as a premier specialist in the vocal repertoire of the baroque castrato era. A graduate of the Luigi Cherubini Music Conservatory, Mineccia has built a distinguished career collaborating with elite period-instrument ensembles and celebrated conductors worldwide. His extensive stage and recording credits feature principal roles in foundational operas by Handel, Monteverdi, and Vivaldi, alongside an expansive sacred oratorio repertoire. Notably dedicated to historical revival, Mineccia has released several critically acclaimed solo albums spotlighting neglected eighteenth-century composers, cementing his reputation across prestigious European opera houses and festivals.
