This album brings together a collection of beloved encore pieces performed by Shinichi Fukuda, featuring memorable melodies from a wide range of musical traditions and eras. Although these works have long been favorites in his concert performances, most were never included among his more than 100 recordings, making them treasured experiences previously available only to live audiences. The program includes two short pieces by Roland Dyens showcasing his inventive guitar arrangements, a work specially composed for Fukuda by Mino Kabasawa, and distinctive selections such as “Like the Flow of a River” and “Forbidden Play.” Capturing Fukuda’s artistry at its peak, this album offers fans a rare and comprehensive collection of his most cherished encore performances.

Shin-ichi Fukuda, born in Osaka in 1955, began studying classical guitar at the age of eleven under Tatsuya Saitoh. In 1977, he moved to Paris to continue his studies at the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Alberto Ponce, and later studied on scholarship at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana under Oscar Ghiglia. After earning diplomas in Paris and Siena, he won numerous prestigious awards, including First Prize at the 23rd Paris International Guitar Competition. Over a distinguished international career spanning more than three decades, Fukuda has established himself as one of the world’s leading classical guitarists through solo recitals, concerto appearances, and chamber music performances. Renowned as both a performer and educator, he has mentored many acclaimed guitarists, including Kaori Muraji, Daisuke Suzuki, and Yasuji Ohagi. He also serves as a guest professor at several leading institutions, including the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Osaka College of Music, Elizabeth University of Music, and Showa University of Music.
