Fantasticus by Daniel Seminara presents a captivating musical journey across centuries, styles, and artistic languages. Inspired by the concept of Stylus Phantasticus—a tradition characterized by imagination, freedom, and expressive innovation—the album explores repertoire ranging from the improvisatory brilliance of early Baroque composers such as Johann Hieronymus Kapsberger, Vincenzo Galilei, and Alessandro Piccinini to works by later figures including Fernando Sor, Francis Poulenc, Goffredo Petrassi, and Domenico D'Angelo. Uniting diverse eras and aesthetics, each work reflects a shared spirit of exploration and invention, revealing music that continually challenges convention and emerges with a sense of freshness and discovery through the expressive voices of the guitar and lute.
Daniel Seminara is a guitarist and lutenist specializing in historical performance practice, with a focus on Italian Renaissance and early Baroque repertoire performed on the archlute, Baroque guitar, and Renaissance lute. Equally active in contemporary music, he is known for innovative programs that create artistic dialogue between composers from different eras, connecting early and modern musical traditions. A member of Capella de la Torre and a regular collaborator with Nico and the Navigators, he has appeared at leading European venues and contributed to acclaimed recordings. Educated in Italy and Germany, Seminara has established a distinctive career bridging historical authenticity with contemporary creativity.
